Box shape (forked spacer) strapend with soldered back plate and enameled rosette with pelican image.
The replica was based on an archeological find of a set of mounts from an Italian colony on Crimea.
In Medieval times a pelican was also depicted as a bird drawing its own blood with its beak to feed its young. It symbolised the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ spilling His blood for His faitful.
